and the nominees are....

Click The Button Above

So, the Vote Now button is up! But what is this vote button actually for? Well, for those who aren't aware, there are a lot of Freestyle Artist in the country. From Miami to Los Angeles, New York to Dallas, while many had thought Freestyle was long gone, new artist continued to hit the scene year after year.
Many people consider Freestyle an 80's genre, and while it might have started in the 80's it in no way stopped in the 80's. Artist such as Lil' Suzy, Rockell and Angelina proved that there was still a viable market for Freestyle.
Basically the Vote Now button is there to make sure that the Board does not overlook anyone, regardless of their success. Many long forgotten names have been pouring into the database, making the decissions even harder as each day goes by.
Of course as much as we feel, so many people do derserve to an award, we all know that that just can't happen. But remember, this is going to be an annual award, and every year new people are going to be honored.
We do however need the support of all. From artist and writers, producers and managers, this event is for you and it is important that you do all you can to be there.
Just because the event is being held in Miami Florida, doesn't mean that it is a Miami event. We are already speaking to venues around the country about possibly bring the Freestyle Music Awards to their their in the future.
To make sure that we were being fair to the entire Freestyle market. The initial promotions have been via the internet only. Because of the low price of the tickets we wanted to make sure that everyone had and equal amount of time to purchase tickets. Direct promotions to the Miami area will begin shorty, so please rush and purchase your tickets now!

"In A Dream" is one of Rockell's biggest hits. It's still being played all around the world. Rockell is one of my choices to be nominated for the Freestyle award. Rockell is one of the few Freestyle artists who continue to perform shows all over to support her old music and new material that she still puts out. How many others are doing that? The list is short.

Rockell, I know you read this blog. If you dont get nominated-FU** THEM. Keep working towards your Grammy!

I have been there with freestyle since the days of the devil's nest ...etc. I only hope that all the artists that have shaped freestyle great and small have a chance to be nominated. Also please take into consideration all the producers, artists, and d.j.'s that have passed on to the big night club in heaven.

Their are far too many players in the field of 80s Freestyle Dance Music, You really need to throw us a bone and give us a list of potential award winners. I know for a fact that my brothers in New York and Los Angeles do not have the same candidates in mind that we in Miami have. Just a thought!

Erotic Exotic has to be nominated these guys were at the very forefront of the Freestyle Music movement in Miami. EE were real musicians that played their own instruments and produce their own records. EE was also the first Miami band to be signed to a Major label (Atlantic Records) Erotic was also the original backing band for Expose, backed up Stevie B in Friday Friday as well as produced Los Sucios biggest hit "Sucia". EE also toured all over the US and South America.

i heard that freestyle evolution was performing and thought that was great. they put on a bad ass show. are their other miami artist performing? I understand everyone cant perform this year, but this is graet great great! I couldnt really afford the vip, but $35.00 for any other seat in the house is a great deal. I will be there with my girls, we might camp out the night before so that we can sit right behind this artist. thank you to the freestyle music awards for doing this. i read a lot of the comments and eventhough most positive, please dont listen to the haters. they are problly people who never had a chance to be famos. God Bless you

I agree that Erotic Exotic should be nominated. these guys have been around for ever despite the death of lead singer Eric Tallman.
Eoric was the biggest of the male led bands in Miami and probably the most traveled as well touring South America sponsored by Pepsi. These guys paved the way for many other bands from Miami.

Why arent Miami artist included in the awards?

Erotic,Debbie Deb,Company B, great, but that's all?

Where is Will 2 Power,Nice & Wild,Secret Society,Expose,Ray Guell,Linear,Connie etc.

Seems all to bias to me.

Who ever is wondering why certain artist aren't apart of the awards, then you would have to ask them. The awards were put together without the intentions of having artist perform (could've sworn I've said this before). Artist approached "us" about performing, we went after no one. Also, keep in mind that this is already being planned for 2009, so if your favorite Freestyle artist isn't on this year, then maybe they will be next year. hey we can't please everyone, and we are not trying to. We are trying to put together something that no one else has ever thought enough of Freestyle to do. If you are an artist or a "True" fan and support, then this should be an exciting event for you. Don't try and hurt the same music you claim to love. hate the haters, not those trying to support and make a difference in Freestyle.

Hope to see you at the FMA's
